Did you know that cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 14?  My deepest hope is that you never experience a childhood cancer for your family or loved ones.  Growing up, Kristin (Geiselhart) Rohde, was one of my sister's best friends - to say she was around a lot was an understatement.  In 2022, Kristin joined our Granite Financial team and is the smiling face that greets you when you walk through our doors. 

Kristin's son, Connor, was diagnosed with brain cancer and, sadly, lost his battle with cancer shortly before his 8th birthday.  From a distance, I watched Kristin and her husband, Adam, handle this heartbreaking development. I struggled with not knowing how I could help and was secretly thankful it wasn't one of my kids. I watched them struggle with Connor's health challenges, knowing the commitment it takes to be the best parents they could be, navigating the health care and insurance systems, always with hope. Enter St. Jude: St. Jude took the financial worry off their plates and the work that St. Jude does in childhood cancer research is impactful.  You can hear more of Kristin & Adam's experience with St. Jude from their video here.  

Not knowing how I could help has turned into a hope to help in the future.
