Market Perspectives from Laurie

April 16, 2025

I am not a golfer, but the Masters is a priority for my husband each year.  On Sunday, I tuned in, too.

Rory McIlroy became the first golfer to win the Masters with FOUR double bogeys. I’m sure he would’ve liked to take a smoother ride to completing the grand slam!

Rory’s volatile last round reminded me a lot of the markets the past few weeks. Massive swings in either direction.

While Rory’s final round provided incredible drama, clients were likely less entertained by the market volatility the last few weeks.

With that in mind, I wanted to provide you some historical perspectives.  Headlines are HARD right now. Uncertainty can cause anxiety and stress; I encourage you to not panic.

Market corrections are a normal part of investing.  While we always want to be in the fairway, sometimes the market puts us in the rough or in a bunker (this is the non-golfer talking!). Hole-in-ones are rare. Perspective is important!

While the headlines may feel different this time around, I believe the story remains familiar — the market has shown resilience in the past, and I expect it will again.
