I'm thrilled to be part of the Granite Financial Team and deepen my passion to support Laurie, who helps individuals pursue healthy financial decisions, implement new strategies, or dive into the complexities that the financial world can throw at us. Our goal is to instill confidence in your financial well-being while assisting you in realizing your goals and aspirations; I am excited to be part of your journey!
My career commenced at The University of Northwestern—St. Paul, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Following that, I taught and coached at Centennial High School in Blaine, MN. In the autumn of 2011, I relocated to Saint Cloud to pursue a Master’s Degree in Special Education.
After eight years in the field of education, I made the pivotal choice to transition careers and delve into the financial services industry. That significant shift, nearly a decade ago, has granted me invaluable insights into the intricacies of personal finance, fueling a deeper passion to aid others in realizing their financial goals. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to connect with you and provide support throughout your financial journey at the direction of your financial advisor, Laurie Humphrey.
I continue to learn and focus on my education in financial services:
- BFA™- In the spring of 2024, after joining Granite Financial, I earned the Behavioral Financial Advisor designation. This designation helps advisors (or their assistants) understand the complexities investors face. Financial professionals need to understand the behavioral complexities that investors face. Simply put, the decisions you make about money are often tied deep rooted values. Effectively understanding and helping you identify those values can provide valuable insight into keeping your financial goals intact. This designation represents the ability to recognize and provide insight to help you make smart, values-based decisions with and about your money.
- FPQP® -The Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional introduces key aspects of personal financial planning. This designation dives into several financial concepts ranging from Investments, Insurance, Retirement, Taxes, and Estate Planning. The FPQP® is a valuable designation for those that want to deepen their understanding into personal financial planning and one of the first stepping stones required to become a Certified Financial Planner.
- WMS™-One of the reasons for pursuing the Wealth Management Specialist designation is to continue developing a deeper understanding of personal financial concepts. The WMS™ designation discusses several key planning topics including: Time Value of Money, Measuring Risk and Returns, Tax Implications and Strategies, Insurance, Retirement Planning Considerations, and Estate Planning.
In my personal life, my wife and I are proud parents to two young daughters; we currently reside in Saint Cloud. When I'm not with my family, you'll often find me engaged in church activities, participating in or attending sporting events, umpiring baseball games, or tackling various home improvement projects. I also relish leisurely strolls around our neighborhood, exploring local county/state parks, hitting the golf course, and unwinding by the lake.
